GIG scientists (again) ranked among the World's Top 2% Scientists

A new ranking of the World's Top 2% Scientists, the prestigious list of the world's most influential people in science, has been released.

Last year, two scientists from the Central Mining Institute were featured on the list: dr hab. inż Natalia Howaniec, and prof. dr hab. Adam Smoliński.

This year, the list covered nearly 190,000 scientists from 22 disciplines divided into 176 fields, including 957 people working in Polish scientific centres. The ranking was divided into two lists: The first list included the entire scientific output for the entire period of professional work until 2020, and the second list included the citation ranking for 2020 only.

The Top 2% Scientists list, which includes scientific output for the entire period of professional work until 2020, features Prof. Adam Smoliński and Prof. Krzysztof Stańczyk.

The second Top 2% Scientists list, which includes the citation ranking for 2020 only, features prof. dr hab. inż. Józef Dubiński, dr hab. inż. Natalia Howaniec, and prof. dr hab. Adam Smoliński.

The TOP 2% ranking is prepared by analysts from Stanford University, Elsevier Publishing and SciTech Strategies. They evaluate the entire scientific output of researchers according to a bibliometric index, including criteria such as Hirsch index, number of citations, or position in the list of authors.
