We are happy to announce the launch of the international project RAISING (Raising awareness of small local communities in the process of coal mining transition), an initiative that has one goal: to support small mining communities in the process of just transition. We want the voice of these communities to be heard, and the transformation of coal regions to become an opportunity not just a change.
As part of the project, we will:
- organize meetings and workshops,
- build a network of cooperation,
- conduct media campaigns and educational activities,
- develop online communication.
The result of the joint work will be a report with recommendations for mining regions, which will help them shape the future in the spirit of sustainable development.
The project leader is the Central Mining Institute – National Research Institute (GIG-NRI), and the partners are: Instrat Foundation from Warsaw, German DMT-THGA and Czech university VSB – TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF OSTRAVA.
The project is financed by the European Union from the Research Fund for Coal and Steel #RFCS under Accompanying Measures.
The kick off meeting of the project took place on October 3, 2025.
