• Physical-chemical analyses of hard coals, bedded and sortment, as well as other solid fuels, such as: lignite, coke, semi-coke, briquettes made of coal and lignite, solid biofuels and solid secondary fuels;
• The scope of tests includes among others: physical-chemical analysis, technical analysis, elementary analysis, petrographic analysis, analysis of the type of coal and coke properties, assessment of the composition and properties of coal ashes;
• Classification of hard coals by the Polish and international classification and determination of coal code by the International Codification System;
• Determination of coking properties;
• Tests on the petrographic construction of hard coals and its impact on processing and technological processes;
• Analyses of the properties of coal ashes;
• Analyses of fuels and furnace waste for the purposes of CO₂ emission;
• Preparing reference materials in the form of standard samples;
• Analysing conciliation samples in conflict situations;
• Organization of comprehensive tests, in cooperation with other laboratories of the Central Mining Institute.
