Realization of project Enhancing environmental management capacities for sustainable use of the natural heritage of Central European SPA towns and regions as the driver for local and regional development, acronym HealingPlaces, has started in April 2019.
On 29th -31st of May 2019 in Katowice, the HealingPlaces team from 7 countries - Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia and Italy participated in the Kick-off meeting, organized by Central Mining Institute (GIG) in Katowice, in Poland.
The project, which main objective is to improve current management practices of mineral & hot water and other valuable natural resources at SPAs, is implemented in a partnership of local and regional self-government units and development agencies related to health resort areas, as well as scientific units.
For three days all partners presented current work in project and discussed about synchronization and interlinking of activities in specific work-packages: both technical WPs:
- WP T1: Environmental mapping and assessment,
- WP T2: Sustainable SPA management – from concept to realization. Pilot actions in project regions,
- WP T3: Management strategy&guidance: integrated strategy for sustainable management of SPAs natural resources,
as well as WP Management and WP Communication.
The kick off meeting was a great opportunity to know each other, to present the role of each partner in the project and to share the ideas for pilot projects, as well as to deepen the management issues during the Steering Committee meeting.
